Jasmine Johnson is not only a
devoted servant as a Resident Assistant at Liberty University, she has also
spent her years at the insitution learning and growing in her relationship with
Christ. As a family and child development major and a youth ministryminor she
had the incredible opportunity this summer to serve and hone into those skills as a youth ministry intern at a local church in her hometown in
Duchess County, New York.
As an intern her responsibilities
were widespread she explains, “I was put to work on anything that needed to be
done.”
The most random thing she had to do was make glow in the dark bubbles. How do you make glow in the dark bubbles you may wonder? It entails a lot of bubbles, glow sticks, and mixing them together.
“My first thought was what? do I really need to crack open a hundred glow sticks, but it ended up actually being really cool” Johnson explained.
Her other regular weekly responsibilities included mentoring middle school girls, leading a small group of young women, and planning youth events to ensure a sense of community within the youth group. She says she grew in her walk with the Lord through the process, but she also fine tuned her relationship building skills with not only young adults in the youth group, but their parents who looked to her for knowledge of what the ministry she was part of was about.

Miss Johnson did not just wither
away working all summer, and she readily admits the highlight of the summer was
visiting Miami, Florida with her family. While there her family stayed on a
resort and spent time together. Her favorite part of the trip was laying out on
the beach and soaking up the vitamin D from the sun.
